Phoenix HD Announcement

The Hague, The Netherlands, August 2011.

Firi Games is proud to announce its latest game, Phoenix HD. Phoenix HD is a modern arcade game, and the successor to Phoenix, played by over 150.000 players across the world. Phoenix HD features totally redone graphics, showing its intense action at a silky smooth 60 frames per second. Phoenix HD will be available in the App Store Friday, August 12th and runs on third- and fourth generation iPhones and iPod Touches, and the iPad. Best of all, Phoenix HD is free.

The improved Flare HD engine powers the incredible graphics of Phoenix HD, running at a steady 60 frames per second. All new parallax scrolling backgrounds create a stunning backdrop for the intense action, supported by terrific particle effects. Phoenix HD is one of the best looking shoot 'em ups available in the App Store.

Phoenix HD retains the innovative features in Phoenix, such as procedural content generation and dynamic difficulty. This ensures no play through is the same. In-app purchases provide additional ships, and give access to the Phoenix Leaderboards. The Phoenix Leaderboards allow a player to compare his high scores with others in his city, country or the entire world. In this way, there is always someone to compete against.

Firi Games is convinced that Phoenix HD is a great action game for both experienced shoot 'em up fans as well as new players to the genre. Now that it is free, there is no reason not to try it. Phoenix HD is translated into German, French, Spanish and Italian and will be available in the App Store on Friday, August 12th.

Phoenix 1.1.0

The Hague, The Netherlands, 31 January 2011.

Firi Games is happy to announce that the 1.1.0 update for Phoenix is now available in the App Store. Phoenix is a modern bullet-hell shooter, played by tens of thousands of players world wide. It boasts several unique features such as regional leaderboards, which allow players to compare their scores with other players in the city, state and country that they are currently in! Phoenix also runs on every model iPhone and iPod Touch, while still displaying tons of bullets and particle effects.

The Phoenix 1.1.0 update is the biggest update to date and adds a ton of extra content, including an extra gameplay feature, Game Center achievements, more power-ups, more enemy variations, improved graphics and a brand new user interface.

A new gameplay feature allows a player to store a single power-up, to use at a later time. This effectively functions as a customizable panic button, and adds another layer of choice for the player to make.

15 initial Game Center achievements have been added, posing various extra challenges to the players (in addition to getting the highest score of course). More achievements will be added in a future update.

Furthermore, an EMP Shockwave power-up has been added which, when picked up, will turn all enemy bullets in shiny extra score power-ups. The EMP can be used to save yourself from imminent destruction, or as an effective way to boost your score.

Finally, the update also features extra content. New bullet patterns provide more variation and a harder challenge later in the game. Enemies have received a visual update as well, as their more dangerous weapons will have increasingly dangerous looking appearances.

Phoenix 1.1.0 significantly improves on all aspects of Phoenix and the initial reception from players has been great. This update is the first in a series of updates that will be rolled out in the coming months.

Phoenix Release

The Hague, The Netherlands, 25 October 2010.

Firi Games is proud to announce that its second title, Phoenix, is now available on the Apple App Store for $.99/€.79. Phoenix is a modern arcade game with intense action, brilliant graphics and innovative regional leaderboards.

Our in-house developed Flare engine provides the ability to display hundreds of bullets and particles at the same time, while still running on all iOS devices, including the original iPhone. This makes Phoenix one of the most spectacular shoot 'em ups available for everyone who owns an iPhone or iPod Touch.

The game centers around a single, procedurally generated infinite challenge. The goal is to destroy as many enemies as possible, in an attempt to achieve the highest score. The procedural content generator can create hundreds of thousands of enemy variations, and combined with adaptive difficulty, no single play through will be the same.

High scores are tracked through our unique regional leaderboards, which show a player's high score per city, country and continent. Thus there is always a reason to compete, whether it is to beat your fellow countrymen or becoming the best of your city.

We are convinced that Phoenix is a great action game for both experienced shoot 'em up fans as well as new players to the genre. Phoenix is translated into German, French, Spanish and Italian and is available in the App Store worldwide.
